Leeward Community College Uses Interactive Kiosk to Keep Students Informed During COVID-19 Times

One of ten campuses of the University of Hawaii System, Leeward Community College (LCC) is a public, commuter community college in Pearl City, Hawaii. The Learning Commons building on campus offers a variety of assistance in the form of computer resources, study spaces and more for LCC students. As a way to provide up-to-date information to students, faculty and guests, the ground floor library in the Learning Commons was looking for an all-in-one interactive kiosk that incorporated digital signage software that would allow them to access and update content remotely.

Bright Light Digital was selected through a competitive bidding process to furnish and install a Viewsonic EP5540T 55″ Interactive All-in-One ePoster kiosk for the library. The kiosk includes a 10-point interactive display with 400-nit brightness, 1200:1 contrast ratio, and dual 10W stereo speakers. Bright Light also installed Revel Digital digital signage software as part of the contract. The software allows the library staff to update content remotely from their desktop computers on a regular basis.

With the current COVID-19 situation, the new kiosk fulfills an important need for the library and learning commons to keep its students informed of the facility’s changes in hours and services as well as push information on how to access online reading and resource materials.
